COVID-19 is a major political and social topic in Germany and many fear a third total lockdown coming up.

As the COVID-19 pandemic emerged, so did the “lateral thinkers” movement, who appose state regulations such as the lockdowns, deny the pandemic and refuse to get the vaccination.

More and more conspiracy theories are coming up about the pandemic and the vaccination, which are supported by false reports and media blogs that share disturbing news on the latest events related to the pandemic

There are different news reports on the same events, that show the bias towards stirring up the conspiracy and the public fear . The news story on the suicide of a clinic manager in Chemnitz Germany exemplifies this. The majority of news platforms report that the suicide was unexpected and is still investigated. Platforms such as the “Freie Welt”, however, report that there has been a suicidal note left behind, in which he supposedly states the reason of his suicide. They claim, he killed himself because he could no longer bear the lies and mass manipulation by the state about the dangerous vaccination.

The German society is divided and the harmony of living together suffers from this division. Tobias Sadler, a student from Morningside can give us an insight into the current situation -Tobias Sadler Audio-

This demonstrates that there is not only a longterm effect on our health but also on our social norms and values.

The Natural Catastrophes that hit the world this year were no coincidence. They are related to global warming.

What is unsettling the most according to Scientific American is the rapid intensification of tropical storms by the atmospheric water vapor. This said, data from the last 40 years show that the probability of a storm rapidly intensifying has quintupled.

Natural catastrophes that we saw this year in America and in Germany are the result of this phenomenon. The floods in south Germany were something no one expected according to Kai Schwaegerl, a German student at Morningside. -Kai Schwaegerl Audio-

So if anyone still does not believe in global warming, we are seeing the effects of it already.

The Morningside men’s soccer team went from back to back GPAC champion, to a 4th place and no qualification for the national championship the first time in three years.

How the season has ended was not how Morningside Coach Tom Maxon expected it to go. He explains what the team was missing this year that may have caused the downfall. – Tom Maxon Audio –

Every Mustang soccer fan hopes for the return of their all time top scorer Okan Golge but until then, decisions have to be made and solutions have to be found.
