The article called: “Chemnitz clinic boss allegedly committed suicide because of a vaccination lie” (translation), published by the internet news blog “Freie Welt” (Free world), tackles a suicide that was across the news in Germany on the 10th of November 2021.

One needs to understand that the COVID-19 pandemic still plays a big role in German media and is the number one topic of conversation in the public. This increased the so called “lateral thinkers” movement which spreads conspiracy about the pandemic. The German society is split; ones that believe in the danger of the Corona virus and get vaccinated, and ones that believe it functions as politic manipulation. The outbreak of this conflict can be related back to the heavy restrictions, multiple lockdowns and politics demonstrating incompetence by constantly revising questionable decisions. This pandemic split the society not only in different opinions but the individual citizens attack one another over these beliefs.

The suicide of the of the clinic boss in the German city Chemnitz was reported on very neutrally by multiple major news platforms. The deceased has only recently been promoted to this leading position and now he jumped off the roof of the clinic for unknown reasons, according to the major news platforms, leaving children and a wife behind. The news article of the “Feie Welt” reports that he did leave a suicidal note. It supposedly states that he killed himself because he could not stand the ongoing lying and fraud revolving the COVID-19 vaccinations.

I got attentive to the article because multiple people who I follow on social media posted this article in their stories. I think that this is a very dangerous topic and people should be more aware about the validity of information and credible sources. I could not find any other articles reporting about a supposed suicidal note. The problem with conspiracy theorists is that their argumentation often relies on the evidence that there is no evidence because a higher power manipulates these evidences. I replied to one of the stories that there is no other news portal that talks about this and that the source does not seem to be credible. The response was that the state bribes and controls the news papers.

Overall, it becomes apparent that being educated about sources and reliability is very crucial to not be irritated by conspiracies. Further, this is a relevant topic to discuss because there are millions of people who’s behavior endangers other people for example if they refuse to get vaccinated or if they refuse to obey to the COVID-19 laws implied by the state to regulate the infection rates.
