Jaxon Neubert- Profile Final

Chris Weins is a very hardworking, selfless, and all-around good dude. Chris has overcome a lot of obstacles in his life and many of which just to get to Morningside university and play baseball. “My time in high school yes it was fun but it wasn’t driven on getting to college. And the coach was not very good there that I had to work really hard by myself in order to get to where I am” Chris and I went to the same high school and played baseball for the same high school and the coach there really did not care about the players, he really only cared about how well the field was managed. Chris worked very hard to get to play college baseball and he would go to the field pretty much every weekend just to hit and take grounders and collect film to send to college coaches. “ Well I have never missed a practice or even a game in my entire high school career, so when I took my visit to Morningside I had to miss two practices and the coach actually ended up sitting me for two games and one of which being my last high school game which was our senior night, so that just flipped a switch in me where I was like OK time to work”

I held a one-on-one interview with Soma Tsutsimi about how Chris Weins is as a character and Soma had a lot of very good things to say about Chris. Soma stated that Chris was one of the most hardworking dudes he has ever met and he is always there for him no matter what. “Chris go to the gym pretty much every day, heck he goes more than anybody that I’ve ever seen and even before the gym he goes and he hits prior. I one time had to call Chris at 3:00 AM to come help me with a tire and sure enough Chris was there in about 5 minutes he is someone that I will always rely on” Chris is a shortstop and a 2nd baseman for Morningside University and has been the same position all of his life. “Baseball has always been my happy place and my escape from the world wether I was upset, sad or even just needed some way to escape from reality. If I’m ever feeling down or anything I hit the cages” Baseball brings so much joy to Weins and yes, it is just a sport but to Chris it is more of a way of life and something he can proud of and something he can tell people he’s doing at the elite level.

I talked to Steve Neubert about Weins and again he has very good things to say about him. I think Chris might just be a very good dude and everyone sees it for there self. “Chris has always been my favorite friend of Jax and ever since I met him in their freshman year of high-school I just knew he was a good dude just based off of his demeanor and his outgoing personality.”

Yes Chris has dealt with challenges and a lot of forks in the road to get over in order to make it to play college ball but he did not let that change his outlook on life nor did he let it affect his demeanor and his morals. Chris wines is a very hard working, selfless, and all around good dude and though he has had to overcome a lot of challenges he has always been my best friend and my brother.

Homer The Bear Sadly Passes Away

A sad day for the people at Midland Zoo. The 16-year-old Homer the polar bear Sadly has passed away early this past Saturday. I was able to have a conversation with the zookeeper Sara N Getty and she found him floating in the pool of the polar bear exhibit at 7:00 AM an hour after his feeding time, and a 9-year-old polar bear named Yukon and a 10-year-old polar bear named McKenzie were removed from the exhibit and are now being monitored by the veterinary staff. Sara told me a little about Homer the bear and said, “homer was a very curious and playful polar bear and we will miss him terribly.”

I also held a conversation with doctor shanda Lear a senior staff veteran at Midland zoo, and she said, “The zoo will perform a necropsy to try to determine the cause of death. The results will not be available for several weeks” in spite of the polar bear dying there was also a 10 year old female bobcat named Regina who died of renal failure last week and two weeks ago a 6 year old giraffe was also found dead After her neck broke when her horns got caught in her stall.

and lastly I got to talk to Chris P bacon who’s opening statement to me was, “we will do everything in our power to determine how this bear died. Animal welfare and the preservation of species are our primary goals here at the zoo.” I had confirmed with Chris on how the two other animals died and overall he was just very saddened and heavy hearted by what has occurred in their zoo.

Subway Unveils the World’s First Footlong Cookie Only Available on National Cookie Day

The story is just subway announcing a brand new footlong cookie revealed to the public

The audience is pretty much everyone because everyone eats at subway

The benefit to the reader is to learn insight about subways new item for them to lookout for and try

The benefit to the company placing is the fact that it is advertising not only their brand new cookie but just them in general and getting their name out their so the public knows about them and it is fresh in their mind when thinking what they want to eat.

This is unlike other stories because of the fact that this one is advertising whilst making a new “product” but mostly this is used to advertise about subway and to give their name out to the public almost like a “eat at our place” type of thing.

School principals say culture wars made last year ‘rough as hell’

Those voices are part of a new, nationally representative survey of 682 public high school principals, many of whom describe a level of tension and division within their broader school communities that is not only high but, making the job harder. This author does a very good job at giving us an opinion in the first sentence almost wanting us to defend the principals and taking their sides. This author again however kept their opinion on the topic out of the picture and just stated what was being taught in schools and how the curriculum has changed. Overall this was a very very interesting read and this author did a very good job just getting information across without voicing his opinion

Georgia Senate runoff tests the staying power of abortion in American elections

This author actually did a very good job and not putting his opinion in this topic of discussion. He did a very good job of just stating what’s going on and how its affecting democrats and republicans without invoicing himself in there. He stated that abortion was a major issue on Election Day in Georgia, when Democratic Sen. Raphael Warnock finished about 1 point ahead of Republican rival Herschel Walker, though narrowly missing the 50% he needed to win outright. So the author is giving very good insight and detail but also keeping his opinion out and just being a good journalist. Overall was very insightful and a pretty interesting read.

Sen. Raphael Warnock, D-Ga., speaks on Capitol Hill on Dec. 7, 2021.

Morningside Story

Madsen re-elected to national post

Morningside University’s Mass Communication program was recognized at the 2022 Association for Education of Journalism and Mass Communication conference in Detroit this month. And Dave Madesen was re-elected co-chair of the research committee for the Small Programs Interest Group. He was also appointed to the role of co-webmaster for SPIG. It seems as if they are trying to promote not only the mass communications major but also they are trying to promote the fact that the main professor of mass communications is the best is the point they are trying to get across to new students looking to come here for mass communications. The reader might gain knowledge of the mass comm department and than morningside gains a potential student.

Classmate Anecdote

ambitious

Ben Steffens is a self-employed ambitious man who created his own successful business and has 2 more businesses on the way. Ben grew up in a hard financially stable life and in his words, he said, “want to build a future that is not only secure for myself but for my family and my kids”. Coming from a hard-working family who had to work for everything they got he has a very strong work ethic like his mother and father. His mother had her own business as a cleaning lady so that is where he gets his sense of wanting his own business, and his dad is an electrician and knows what a hard day of work looks like. When trying to decide what to do for college in his money situation his dad got him into gutter cleaning, “my dad actually got me into gutter cleaning because a lot of his buddies we’re constantly complaining about how they need their gutter to be cleaned and they need to hire someone so I thought to myself what better way to do it than me”. Ben cleaned his friend’s gutters and then decided that he was very good at it and now owns his own business that is very successful. One of his core values of his business is the fact that as he’s cleaning the gutters, he throws everything in the trash and doesn’t just blow the leaves out onto the floor and let nature do the work. I asked Ben if he has ever had any close calls as he is constantly on people’s roofs and all houses have different roofs. He had a close call while trying to shimmy out of the window from the second story roof and because it was so steep, he fell and the gutter actually caught him. Not only is this job pretty dangerous but now Ben it’s going to start two other businesses after this one so yes, I would say Ben Steffens is very ambitious

                                                What is Underneath My Bed

I picked up my bed and I have found a lot of missing stuff but also realized how bad I needed to vacuum and clean that portion of my house. Underneath I found lost chords, lost water bottles, some of my dog’s toys, some of my old toys from when I was a kid, and I found a lot of that stuff when you think to yourself “man I wonder or that thing is” I find myself asking that all the time. it wasn’t too dirty under my bed however because I do clean my house a lot although I do not clean under my bed a lot but it was kind of cool to see all the stuff that was missing that I found. For instance, I gave my dog six new toys that were brand new when we gave it to him that he chose to hide under my bed. I also found an old TV remote for a cable company we don’t have any more which was DIRECTV that was pretty funny as they are not getting that remote back and I have that now as a memory. But overall, it just felt really good to clean a portion of your house that you really never think of cleaning. And overall, I ended up with a very happy puppy.

Omaha police officer resigns after he was caught dumping trash on neighbor’s car

This author did a very good job on giving backstory on what was going on, “His conduct is unbecoming of an officer and warrants his removal from the OPD.” Said chief of omaha police. It turns out this whole thing happened because the man was cheated on so he took it upon himself to dump trash on Valentine (his ex girlfriend) car. The author had a good lead just with the title itself “Omaha police officer resigns after he was caught dumping trash on neighbor’s car” that in itself already makes me want to read because I think to myself oh boy yet another news article about a cop and it makes me want to read. The news article was pretty short and got to the point which was nice because I didnt have to read forever to get the whole story.

Story 3 Script

Breaking news! Another Hurricane is about to hit Florida in the span of not even 2 months after the last hurricane that just wrecked through Florida. Hurricane Ian caused a great deal of damage and now Floridan’s have to now fear the tropical storm Nicole just when they were rebuilding. I am now talking with Chris Weins who actually owns a house in Florida on how this is affecting him and why… there you have it here from a person who owns a house in Florida. But with the science now of days this helps tremendously as now we can predict the storms that will be bearowling through not only Florida but any other state or country that is danger. Thus, helping not only our people stay alive and well but preparing everything for the disaster about to hit. This science is truly lifesaving and will not only save lives but save structures and homes because we can predict so far in advance. Now moving from a natural disaster to more of a human made problem. Concussions in the sport of football. Now concussions have been something in every sport but football always has had way more and now doctors are starting to take a deeper look and interest into the effects concussions have on an athlete. A recent situation happened in the NFL where tua tagovailoa got yet another concussion and the doctor took a very deep look at his brain and told to a that he should retire because any more blows to the head could cause serious serious damage. But that’s not only happening now that was happening back since football was a start, here I have Steve Neubert who played for the New York Jets for 3 years and I asked him how concussions affected him long term…  now Steve obviously only played for three years so he doesn’t have many long-term issues other than body pain but everyone’s going to have that after playing sports all their life but it does beg the question what about these players that are in the NFL for 10 plus years how is the sport of football almost ruining their future? Most students really don’t know how hard it is to come from another country to America and learn English and still have to read and write in order to pass school here I am with Soma Ttsutmi on his experience from coming from Japan to Iowa for school… I don’t think a lot of us realize how hard learning a new language really is and and having to do school on top of that reading and writing in English for a grade could really be stressful and to be honest I have a lot of respect for anyone who is doing this because I know how hard it actually is because my best friend is from Japan. That wraps up today’s show thank you everyone for listening I’m jax neubert goodnight.
