Random Interviewing

Thinking that it was going to be another normal day of class, we were eventually asked to preform a task. Everyone in the class had to go get two different things from two strangers outside of the library.

This was uncomfortable for most people, but honestly I didn’t mind. The first thing that I had on my list was a doodle. I ran down to the caf because they had not opened the doors yet so I knew people would be trapped and would have to have a conversation with me! I asked James Mualet for to draw me a doodle. The first thing that happened was my pen did not work which put a damper on my plan. Luckily he was very nice and pulled a pen out of his pocket and began to draw. He drew a a funny cartoon smiley face and I asked him why this is what he drew. His response was, “it’s better than a frowny face right?” This made me laugh, then I went to the next thing on my list.

The second object on my list was to find a restaurant recommendation. I talked to someone who was also in the caf named Hunter Aller. I asked him what he would recommend and another girl jumped in and yelled, “HU-HOT!” He said, “hell no” and then he recommended to me, Olive Garden. I told him that I used to work there and then asked him why he chose this place. He said, “They have some good ass bread sticks” and I just laughed and said, “you’re not wrong!”

Then I went back to class and got started.

The final Break

There are many things that make football a dangerous sport. The tackles, the equipment, and the huge hits. The question is, are what are we doing about it?

Rules are constantly being changed within the game, but there are never any equipment changes that could possibly prevent injury.

Bill Belichick was a college sophomore at Wesleyan, in middletown, Connecticut. He played the center position for the team and was really good. ESPN explains that, “Lagner played a linebacker. He hated centers.” Lagner would charge into him on long snaps or any snaps for that matter. He was a terror. He didnt care who’s team you were on, he was going to hit you.

One day Lagner ran at Belichick with full force and as he snapped the ball, “BOOM”, his leg snapped as well.

This is just one instance of the life changing injuries that are caused by this sport and there are things that could, and should be done about it. Instead of focusing just on the rules and regulations of the game, spend some time on the actual equipment, states ESPN.

The following year, the center of the same team was hit as well and went out with a career ending concussion. If this is a reoccurring theme of kids have life altering injuries then something else needs to be done.

The Nike Drop

Collin Kaepernick has become the biggest news of the last few weeks with his involvement for Nike. There are many different opinions that are being presented, and Nike users seem to be having a hard time staying happy with Nike. The words “Just Do It” always had a reassuring sound, but according to ESPN.com this may have changed.

Since the Kaepernick ad stated, “Believe in something, even if it means sacrificing everything”, there has been a rise in negative feedback by 17%. Could this be what will lead to Nike’s downfall, or was this an idea of genius that will continue to rise them up?

John Gerzema, CEO of the Harris Poll stated, “Nike took a strategic risk to alienate customers in order to appeal to their core base of 18 to 29 year old males.” Within this age group, positive feedback has gone up 6% percent in the polls. This is a very bold strategy that Nike has committed to. After this ad was released people nation wide began burning their personal Nike attire to express how they feel.

There are many different sides that people have taken, but who is right when it comes to something like this? Nike is still the biggest sporting goods and work out attire dealer in the world. Everything they have done so far has worked flawlessly. It is hard to see at this point how something like this is going to turn out.
