6 Ways to Winterize your Face

Face-Cream-520x466By Hannah Severson– With winter already here (sadly) it is time for you to winterize your face! It sounds weird, but if you still want healthy-looking skin, you need to take these steps.

  1. The most important step is to moisturize your face. Make sure to do so both when you get out of the shower at night before going to bed and when you wake up in the morning.
  2. Sunscreen is also important during these winter months. Any sun exposure can still damage your skin. An easy way to skip this step is to just buy moisturizer that has sunscreen in it.
  3. Not only is moisturizing going to help you, but drinking plenty of water also could. As you all know, water isn’t just good for hydrating your skin, but also for hydrating your whole body. So, drink up!
  4. When taking a shower or bath, use lukewarm water instead. The boiling hot water may feel great after coming in from the freezing cold, but long exposure to hot water can literally strip the moisture from your hair and skin.
  5. When heading outdoors make sure you have the proper clothing on (scarf, gloves, hat) to help prevent windburn.
  6. No one likes having chapped lips. Always carry lip balm with you. If your lips are flaky, then try putting lip balm on, take a clean toothbrush and gently exfoliate the skin to remove the nasty dried up skin on your lips, (I have done this and it works wonders.)
