By Tasha Drey ~
Sixteen lucky Morningsider’s will head to the big apple this May to fulfill their May Term requirement. The trip is all about experiencing the American culture of New York City.

Morningside faculty Dr. Jackie Barber and Cheryl Harrington are the program leaders.

While in New York City, students will stay in Time Square, see three Broadway shows, visit the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, Ground Zero, and the Metropolitan Museum of Art. They will also get a chance to visit China Town, Little Italy, Harlem, and much more.

Student Megan Grooters said, “I’m so excited to experience one of the most popular cities in the U.S. There will be so many cool sites to see, especially Ground Zero.”

While in New York, students will be keeping journals as part of their experience. Program leader Jackie Barber said the group will have busy days but will also have free time to explore for themselves.

“I’m also excited for the Broadway shows and shopping, definitely shopping,” said Grooters.

The group flies out of Sioux City May 16 and will return May 22. Those interested in following along the with May term group can keep updated on the Morningside May Term group page on Facebook.
