The Mustangs lost its first conference game of the season Wednesday (Sept. 9) against the Mount Marty Lancers. The Mustangs fell 25-19, 25-18, 25-23. The loss sets the Mustangs back to 4-6 on the season thus far.
Jayde Bergmann led the way for the Mustangs, pounding 18 kills. “I knew I needed to put the ball away for our team, I told my setters to keep giving me the ball.” It was a season high for Bergmann.
Kaitlynn Madsen was the most efficient hitter on the night for the Mustangs with an outstanding .462 hitting percentage. Madsen had seven kills and only one error during the game.
Ashton Schweers also had seven kills for the Mustangs. Bergmann, Madsen, and Schweers combined for 32 of the team’s 37 kills.
On the defensive side, Gabi French led with nine digs and freshman Tori Sykes was second with eight digs.
The Mustangs will face Northwestern for their next match on Wednesday, September 16, in Orange City.
