By Amber Burg– The Mustang Grill dining area got heated with Sigma Tau Delta’s Poetry Slam.
The poetry slam consisted of three round and four contestants. Freshman, Bailey Baack slammed her way through the rounds and claimed first place and the $100 check. Nick Moser took home second place and Victoria Anthony received third place.
“It was a small number of poets but high quality of poetry,” said Steve Coyne Morningside English Professor.
The judges consisted of Sigma Tau Delta members such as Hannah Hecht and Cameron Oakley and faculty members like David Elder.
Many non-competitors spoke during the intermission between the poetry rounds either reading off their own work or works of other poets that they liked.
