By Katie Miller – Morningside will host “Experiencing Music in Film” as part of its ongoing Humanities Speaker Series. This discussion will explore the relationship between music and film and how it is used to influence cinematic experiences.
This event will take place today, March 25, at 7 p.m. in Weikert Auditorium and will be led by Dr. Leslie Werden, professor of English and Chair of the Humanities Department.

Dr. Werden will present on various ways film influences viewers’ emotions and adds to storytelling. Portions of the talk will have already been discussed at national Pop Culture Association conferences, and she frequently will incorporate film analysis in her courses. Additionally, she currently serves as the board president of the Sioux City International Film Festival, bringing hands-on experience to the discussion.
This event will attract people of all audiences, including music enthusiasts, students, faculty, and community members. The presentation will provide a deeper understanding between audio and visual storytelling, highlighting how music enhances the impact of film.
