Student art show winners named

by Diego Teixeira Setton–This past Wednesday, March 20, the reception for the Morningside Student Art Show was held in Eppley Art Gallery.

The top-3 artworks of each category were ranked by two guest-judges present at the event; refreshments were also available to guests.

The winners in each category were:

Jordan Kwarcinski, who won first place in graphic design with his piece: “Remind Me How to Breath”.

Diego Teixeira Setton, who won first place in photography with: “Girl in Front of Liberty”.

Margaret Moore won first place in studio art with “Small Talk.” Moore’s piece was also elected best of show, taking home an extra amount of award money.

The winner of each category received a certain amount of money depending on their placement. 

The judging board consisted of two people:

Makaelyn Glienke, a class of 2020 Morningside University graduate, currently working as a photographer. She mostly focuses on capturing both sports and portraiture.

Tracie Tuttle, also a graduate student from the class of 2020, is a graphic designer based in Sioux City. She coordinates the gallery at Vangarde Arts, organizing a variety of different events.
