Musketeers are taking their best shot

Musketeers

by Bryce Griffin–The Sioux City Musketeers finished the 2021-2022 regular season with the second best record in franchise history at 41-16-4-1 following only the 1985-1986 Clark Cup winners.

The Musketeers won 14 of their last 16 games to end the season on a four-game winning streak. They defeated Omaha and Des Moines in the last four games of the regular season.

Ben Steeves capped off the regular season as the current USHL leading scorer and has joined elite company in Musketeers history with the most goals since Ruslan Fedotenko in 1999. Fedotenko spent 12 years in the National Hockey League with five different teams and saw a Stanley Cup championship in 2004 with the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Alongside Steeves, the Musketeers are geared with the USHL’s rookie point leader Dylan James. Sioux City lines up for their best shot at the Clark Cup since 2017 when they lost an overtime heartbreaker to Chicago in game five of the finals.

With a bye in the first round, the Musketeers are prepared to face off against the winner of the #3 seeded Lincoln Stars and #6 seeded Waterloo Black Hawks. The Musketeers will see their first playoff action on Saturday, April 30th at the winner of the 1st round series.

Sioux City will host a minimum of 1 home playoff game this Sunday May 1st with puck drop scheduled for 3:05 P.M.
