Mustangs end regular season with split

by Bryce Griffin–The 2021-22 GPAC basketball regular season came to a close Saturday with Senior Night, and visiting Midland splitting a pair of contests with the Mustangs.

The Morningside Mustangs Men’s Basketball team capped off their regular season with a 79-75 loss to the Midland Warriors at the Rosen Van Dorn Sports Center and Allee Gymnasium February 19. The Mustang Men would finish with a record of 14-11 overall and 11-9 in conference play and ranked 7th in the Great Plains Athletic Conference.

The men now head to the GPAC tournament to face the Concordia Bulldogs in Seward, Nebraska, on Wednesday, Feb. 23.

The women were crowned the GPAC regular season champions after their 69-38 win over Hastings, then finished out their regular season with a 90-72 win against the Warriors. The women finished with a record of 25-4 overall and 20-2 in conference play and the outright Great Plains Athletic Conference regular season champions.

They also secured an automatic bid into the N.A.I.A. National Tournament. The number one seeded women face Hastings again in the first round of the GPAC tournament, Feb. 23 at 6 pm.
