by Iandra Estupinian– In a land far, far away…there stood Morningside’s third residence hall, the Plex.
In reality, not many Morningsiders know about the Residence Complex (a.k.a. the Plex). Because of this, Residence Life has decided to create the first-ever Plex Open House to increase awareness about the residence hall.
“The reason for the open house is to get people into the Plex, since not many take the time to go in the direction of the Plex,” said Alex George, Student Development Coordinator and Plex Area Coordinator.
George continued, “The goal is to help others familiarize themselves with the dorm, the residents, the RA’s and just have a good time.”
The dorm houses over 60 students and is the ideal place for art and music majors because its located across the street from Eppley Auditorium.
Inside the three-floor building, the Plex consists of a large formal lounge with a flat screen TV, study room, game room, fitness room, and a combined kitchen and laundry room (a plus if you like to cook and do laundry at the same time).
“The Plex has its own small community and there is a certain “family feel” to it where it’s cozy and all the residents hang out in the lounges and are really friendly with each other. That’s what makes it really special,” said George.
The Plex Open House will be this Saturday, February 29 at 3:00 pm and is open to all Morningside students and to the public. The event will feature activities such as a drawing for a gift basket, games, tours, and snacks.
