A group of citizens lead by Wilbur Straking is angry that Backwater Universities biology class is teaching evolution. Straking is the pastor of Ever Faithful Church of the Living Water. When asked for a statement Straking exclaimed, “I plan to lead a group of 25 dedicated Christians to the state capital next Monday to speak with legislators about this problem. We believe the teaching of evolution is against the principles of this Christian country, and we want to put a stop to it.” This class is taught by Laura Cliff, the associate professor of biology . When Cliff and the university president were asked to make a statement , they would not comment on the groups claims.
