NBA player deal with Nike likely Over

Brooklyn Nets Superstar Kyrie Irving’s Nike shoe deal was suspended and Nike might terminate the deal altogether.

This happens after Irving was suspended by the Nets for his anti-semantic post on Twitter, which he has since deleted. In the tweet, he was referencing a movie that has Holocaust denial in the movie and other theories about Jews, according to ESPN.

Nike has canceled the release of Irving’s upcoming shoe with the brand and sees the future with Irving going to be hard to repair. Nike’s Phil Knight said this about the Irving situation, “I would doubt that we go back”. He also said, “Kyrie stepped over the line”.

It will be interesting to see how this situation unfolds between Irving and Nike.

I believe this is news because this is a player that reflects the sport of basketball, because of how good he is as a player. So because of him saying these comments, there has been a lot of backlash against him. So this news is just another wave of something that has came from his comments.

The intended audience is basketball fans, and fans of all sports.

It probably does affect basketball as a whole, but people should be used to Irving by now, and realize he’s doing his own thing. A lot of people will write this off to cancel culture, but, really, at this time, being a holocaust denier is not a bright move.
