Target..

After beginning fiscal years through a pandemic and now starting their third year. Target has grown by tens of billions of dollars. Through the tough times in the pandemic and after Target has invested even more into their workers and families.

Target will continue to grow because they care more than just themselves. Brian Cornell said, “We’ll keep growing because we’ve invested in the team, strategy and capabilities to do what’s at the very heart of our company culture: take care of the millions of families who comprise our team and guests, communities, partners and shareholders.”

Only half of target stores have been through the revamp stage and they’ve already made extraordinary benefits. Through the next year 200 more stores will go through the same process. Target will also open 30 more stores within the next year with this same revamp.

Target is also expanding globally and making efforts to support college students. Cornell said, “investments included our industry-leading tuition-reimbursement benefit…” meaning they’re looking out for the benefits of student workers as well.

Target will continue to grow because they adapt to worldwide issues, care about their employees and their families no matter the age, and they’re not satisfied and standstill with their efforts to better themselves and their company.

Class Interview..

Today Paige had an Interview on her professional goals. After graduating from Morningside University Paige wants to get her real estate license to become an agent. Paige doesn’t know exactly where she wants to work but will most likely stay in the SIoux City, IA area.

When asked why she wants to do real estate Paige stated, “ I really enjoy looking at houses and watching house shows.” Paige also likes to try and guess the prices of houses while driving home or on her runs.

The main goal that Paige wants to achieve throughout her career of real estate is to eventually get her own big house and hopefully get a house on the lake. Paige’s mental key to help her achieve her goals is, “you get what you put into it.” What Paige means by this is that as long as she puts all the work in she will be rewarded.

Quick Reflection..

Article 1 is what I had spent the most time on because in my opinion it was the most important. I spent a few hours trying to find articles that were different but still talking about the same point.

I wish I had spent more time organizing the important facts in my article. That way there are the important facts right off the bat and give the most valuable information first. I also wish I looked a little more to find some more important factors throughout the article.

The hardest part of this assignment was finding articles that weren’t saying the same things over and over. I didn’t want the articles to be similar because then the news would be very broad and would be the same information said in different ways over and over.

News Comment 4..

Migrants takeover New York in asylum seeking that is causing chaos within the housing industry. 2,200 new migrants have been appearing week by week in New York. New York is the only nation that requires a “right to shelter.”

Since the middle of May New York’s homeless shelters have jumped up 58,000 people, which is the most the city has seen ever. This amount of people typically takes years to accumulate. While the migrants are arriving, New York is trying to close buildings that are being used to house the homeless.

Just after shutting down bigger shelters due to the aftermath of covid-19, New York is now wondering how they can get that many shelters back to the migrants that are seeking asylum. Mayor Bill De Blasio’s administration had just closed 3,600 apartments being used to shelter the homeless.

The migrants appeared as soon as the city shelter had fallen to the lowest in a decade. Mayor De Blasio’s administration plan is to open 90 dedicated shelters for the migrants. For the first time in recent history they will use tents to house the homeless until they seek asylum.

Scavenger Hunt..

Today I went on an adventure for class and found myself walking around for like a mile. Okay, maybe not a mile but on the walk there was tons of flowers that made me sneeze until I wandered into the library and found my first person.

Jacob Murphy was open to talking to me answering some questions although he was very confused. His hands became restless and kept repositioning himself with an odd look. I asked him if he had a piece of advise or an object and he provided me with a quote, “waste no time arguing what a great man should be, be one.” -Marcus Aurelius. The quote ended up catching me off guard because I was expecting a joke or something not as deep.

The second person I found was Ridge. Apparently Ridge is a big deal on campus since everyone knows him. Ridge was very relaxed, super cool, and very open to the experiment. He even said he was “chillin and very excited to be apart of the hunt” when I asked how he felt. I asked him for a piece of something and in return he gave me his name tag and said “enjoy.” But the real object he gave me was a piece of advice. Ridge told me to, “always be free and never work yourself up over something random.”

Article 1..

Cleveland Browns newly acquired quarterback Deshaun Watson has been suspended 11 games due to sexual misconduct. Along with Watson’s 11 game suspension comes a $5 Million fine as well.

CBS stated days following Watson’s suspension he had to undergo a professional evaluation to determine the right action plan for him. These specific plans are kept secret due to privacy laws. Leaked information from an NFL official stated that it isn’t counseling and is actual treatment.

Watson was accused by over two dozen women of sexual misconduct while getting massages. ESPN says Watson will also have to go to mandatory evaluation and listen to treatment programs that are suggested to him.

Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson speaks to reporters with his attorney Rusty Hardin after a grand jury declined to indict him on criminal charges Friday, March 11, 2022, in Houston.

ESPN also states that $2 million from Watson’s suspension will go towards creating a fund to support non-profit foundations across the U.S. These non-profits will educate young people about healthy relationship types, teach them about sexual misconduct, and encourage education towards these young minds. If Watson complies and shows improvement and change there is a chance the suspension can be cut shorter.

After Watson was questioned about why he had accepted the fine even after pleading innocent throughout all the charges he felt that since he knows he’s innocent then he needs to move on with his life and his career.

The New York Times says the settlement with the NFL was less than the full year suspension the NFl wanted for Watson. This was a huge deal because it is the highest suspension for someone who was never charged with a crime.

Watson’s initial suspension was for six games and one million dollars. But after the NFL’s Player Association and a third party it was nearly doubled for bringing a bad image to the NFL.

CBS stated along with the suspension Watson must receive clinical treatment to insure he is on the right path mentally. Watson Must also get approved by the team officials to have safe massage appointments with approved massage therapists as well. This protocol must continue for as long as Watson’s career lasts.

When asked about the treatment Watson did not consider it a punishment. Watson is taking it as a helpful activity to help him. In order to be on track a clinician must mark him down as “on the right path.”

News Comment 3..

A teacher in Oklahoma has resigned from her job after providing her students with ways to access banned books from the school and public libraries. One parent had complained to the school. Which the school then placed her on administrative leave and summoned her to a meeting with the schools administrators which led to her resignation.

The teacher felt that she could not do her job with the new state law. The state education secretary demanded that her teaching credentials needed to be revoked because she didn’t have Oklahoma values even though she did not break any specific rules.

This is news because teachers do not typically get backlash for sharing information to their students to get access to books. Unfortunately this is starting to be a trend throughout some countries.

Teachers, Parents, Students, and anyone else who is involved with the education system should be aware of this because it is also preventing your first amendment right. The audience should also know that there are plenty of ways to access banned books that way nothing is being blocked for their educational purposes.
