Class Exercise #2 – Moyer Quick

ONE DEAD AND THREE INJURED IN ACCIDENT

Motor vehicle accident leaves one dead and three injured in Townsville yesterday morning. The Countysville County Sheriff’s Office has released the identity of Moyer Quick, the man killed in the accident. Quick was 65 years old and a resident of South Townsville.

Three other individuals were injured including the two passengers of Mr. Quick’s vehicle. Quick’s 61 year old wife Dorothy, also of South Townsville, and 43 year old Maxine Steuerwald. Mrs. Quick is in “good” condition while Steuerwald is in “fair” condition. Also injured in the accident was 17 year old Randy Radin who is listed in “critical” condition. The three survivors were transported by ambulance to Townsville Central Hospital

The accident occurred at 11 A.M. when the vehicle being driven by Mr. Quick and a truck driven by 17 year old Randy Radin collided. The accident happened in the westbound lane of highway 229. The rear end of the vehicle driven by Mr. Quick collided Mr. Radin’s pickup truck as Quick was attempting to pass. The collision sent both vehicles into the ditch with Quick’s vehicle flipping one time. The accident, which is still undergoing an investigation, took place under cloudy skies on a clear and dry pavement.

    I can tell by the length you’re including just about every detail from the fact sheet. Probably not necessary, though you do seem to have it all in the right order.

    Your first sentence is more of a headline, or maybe a tweet. Details in the second sentence would be your lead: A Townsville man is dead after an accident on Hwy 20 yesterday, the Sheriff’s Dept said. Then the names in the next graf.
