Cat saved by local hero fire fighter

Suzanne and Samantha Decker stood in fright as they looked into the top of a mighty tree and saw their beloved cat, Calico, perched at 50 feet.

The scene occurred at the home, 102 11th Ave., while twins Charlie and Kim Decker were playing soccer, when the ball scared the cat up high into the tree.

Heroic Fire fighter Bob Harwood started the 50 foot climb into the oak tree to save the cat. After 30 minutes, Bob finally reached the top and securing Calico.

The climb up was smooth and breath taking, but the climb down wasn’t so perfect.

With the cat securely in hand, Bob was about 15 feet off the ground when suddenly a dead branch crumbled from under neath his body. Leaving him in a descent to the ground.

The landing was a fierce one as it sent Bob to St. Luke’s hospital with a broken leg. Bob reports, “I’m doing just fine”. The cat also is doing great, as Calico landed on top of Bob.

A real hero for the community Bob! Thank you for your service!

  1. This is not good, Carter, for a variety of reason I mentioned in class.
But thank you for doing it, because it allowed me to make an important point for others.
