last news Article: Esports still grows but needs new investors.

Esports are continuing to grow but the profits are fading. The rise of Esports was a great boom for investors and companies to hop on the train. It has been 5 years since the initial boom of the sport and investors are not impressed by the progress that is being made.

Though major e-sports events are selling out large arenas like Chase center there is still far fewer Americans that watch e-sports compared to the NFL or the N.B.A. While many e-sports are streamed on free platform like twitch and YouTube there is not much broadcasting deals that happen to make the money like the NFL or NBA with all their broadcast deals. Investors of the sport were expecting it to be watched as much as the NFL or NBA, although it is rising to look like that; there still is a lot of time to wait and see how things pan out for the e-sports world.

E-sports brings countless different people from all different backgrounds to enjoy one thing we have in common and that’s gaming. People from all around the world watch and engage in esports. All major Colleges now have an E-sports program that all compete in a colligate league. There are many hopes for people to still have a chance to play at the highest level which gives more motivation and investment to the sport.

E-sports is still one of the fastest growing sports not only for players but the viewer count. Increased numbers of people are tending to tune in and watch streamers and big-name teams clash it out for a championship title. This needs to be heard and shown that e-sports are still big and growing and need investors to be able to get to the point of the NFL and the NBA. Whether you like it or not it will be one of the biggest mainstream sports to come out, it just needs the support it has been lacking.

  1. How exactly is this supposed to make money? Do these teams have fans who will pay to buy tickets? Jerseys? Hats? I don’t know anything about this, but it seems different from being a pro sports fan, where a team represents a city/state, and has recognizable players. Maybe e-sports does and I’m missing something. Time will probably prove me wrong.
