Fire at Norfolk Downs Racetrack

Early morning on the start to the race season. Norfolk Downs Racetrack, Chicago, suffered a major fired in one of the barns. 15 horses dead out of the 25 that where stabled. The Fire was live until the afternoon, all that was left were several rows of charred wooden supports.

Officials Dan Bucci the assistant general manager of the track at the time stated β€œIt could have been of an incendiary nature because it started in the middle of the barn, not at the end.”  

A jockey, Albert Ramos from Miami Fl, watched works clean up the debri almost in tears and says, β€œI love horses more than I do people.” The fire not only putting a slow to the race season but a hole in hearts for the lost friends.
