The passing of Hommer the polar bear.

Some sad news from Midland Zoo, Homer the polar bear was reported dead at the age of 16 years old at 7 a.m. after he was fed. Both other bears were removed from the exhibit and are being watched and monitored closely for any signs of illness.

We were able to get some answers from the Zoo director Chris P. Bacon. Chris says “We will do everything in our power to determine how this bear died. Animal welfare and the and the preservation of species are our primary goals here at the zoo.” Chris and his team are working on analyzing what may have cause the death of the bear.

The Zoo’s senior staff veterinarian Dr. Shanda Lear said “The zoo will perform a necropsy to try and determine the cause of death. The result will not be available for several weeks.” The team is fast at work to get a reason.

The zoo has housed polar bears since 1985 with a unique exhibit that allows the bears to engage in a natural environment. All animals are in expert hand are monitored and maintained safely. There will be further information regarding the passing of Hommer. The Zoo staff and a few things to say, “Homer was a verry curious and Playfull polar bear and we will miss him terribly.”

  1. Well, you would want to spell Homer’s name correctly.
This sounds more like audio, especially the use of “we.” If you wrote the release well enough, this could be how local TV stations cover the story.
