This is certianly an interesting story that you do not hear about often. This little Koala decided he was going to swim out towards a canoe and hitch a ride. The canoers were in shock and swept him out of the water, fearing he may drown.

When most people think of Koalas they picture them sitting in trees and muching on eucalyptus leaves, not going for a swim.

I feel this is a newsworthy story. It makes people wonder why animals behave the way they do sometimes. There is still this mystery behind the animal mind that people want to know about. Aside from making people think it also brightens people’s day. A lot of the news we hear is very negative and dark. A story like this can at least put a smile on our faces.

I don’t think I would have written the story any different than what it is. It presents the general story as well as reminder to the public that Koalas are wild animals. You wouldn’t want your story giving people the idea that they can just go and pick up Koalas without a worry in the world. They can be aggressive and dangerous just like any other animal. I also am happy that the story lets us know what happened to the Koala rather than leave us wondering.
