By Alyssa Nehring–Some students and faculty members are packing their bags for spring break and heading home. However, a group of three students, Jenni Beaver, Garrett Thomas, and Caleb Ott, along with Professors Pam Mickelson and Marilyn Eastman, will head to Oklahoma City for ACME Conference 2016. ACME is the Association of Collegiate Marketing Educators, which hosts an annual conference for marketing students, professors, and scholars. The conference runs from March 9 through 12.
During this conference both Mickelson and Eastman are track chairs for different categories. Eastman is track chair for New Media, Advertising, and Marketing Communications. Mickelson is the track chair for Student Research and is also presenting The Ethics in Selling Sex in the same category with Garrett Thomas.
Marilyn Eastman is presenting the Brand Project with Jenni Beaver in the category chaired by Mickelson. Eastman created the Brand Project. The success of the Brand Project has led Eastman to be one of three finalists in the AxcessCapon Teaching Innovation competition.
Professor Eastman will also present her research with a colleague from University of South Dakota on The Impact of Instructor Background and Delivery Modality on Student Ratings of Digital Marketing Instruction. This research studied if students learned the material differently if they were told they were being taught by a professor or by a professional in the field in addition to being taught face-to-face or online.
