By Katie Copple– Last week, I introduced you to High Intensity Interval Training, or HIIT for short. One of the latest fitness trends in 2014, HIIT takes working out to a new level. Easy to do on your own or with a group, HIIT can be done almost anywhere and takes little to no equipment.
HIIT is one of the new classes featured at the Norm Waitt Sr. YMCA and its popularity continues to grow. Danielle Hemingson, a wellness coach at the YMCA says that HIIT is a great full-body workout and great for your cardiovascular health as well.
Want to try a HIIT circuit of your own? Here is a quick 7-minute workout that you can do right in your own home.
7-Minute HIIT Workout:
-Do each exercise at high intensity for 30 seconds followed by a 10 second rest (in needed). Repeat entire circuit up to three times for a longer workout.
-Equipment needed: bench or chair
Circuit:
-Jumping Jacks
-Wall Sits
-Push-ups
-Crunches
-Chair Step-ups
-Squats
-Triceps Dips
-Planks
-High Knees or Running in Place
-Lunges
-Push-up Rotations
-Side Plank
