By Lauren Sorenson–The Morningside women’s fraternity will be holding its fourth annual Strike Out Arthritis Kickball Tournament Saturday, April 5, at Elwood Olsen Stadium at noon. Each team must consist of 10 to 12 players and a minimum of three players of each gender, and all participants must be 18 or older. The cost is $10 per person, which includes a T-shirt and entrance into the tournament. All funds will be donated to the Arthritis Foundation.
Erin Parker, a member of Alpha Omicron Pi, says, “This fundraiser is important because it is helping to find a cure that affects one in every three Americans.” She added, “I think students should get involved because this is a fun, easy activity where you get to be a part of the research that affects millions of people across America.”
There will be a prize for the winning team, as well as a raffle during the event. The deadline for registration is Saturday, March 22. To register or help sponsor the event, contact Sara Streff at sjs012@morningside.edu.
Alpha Omicron Pi is a women’s fraternity that strives “to promote the values of simplicity, integrity, circumspection, tolerance, generosity, personal dignity, and love.” Chapters across the United States are holding similar kickball tournaments to raise money for arthritis.
