By Andrew Schnebel–This week’s Collegian Reporter Athlete of the Week goes to Neeia Cooperwood.
Cooperwood, a junior from Omaha, broke the school record in the 400-meter run this past Saturday to place 1st at the Dordt College Invitational indoor track and field meet. She posted a time of 57.17 seconds, which beat her previous record of 57.88 seconds. She also placed first in the long jump with a distance of 18-9 1/4.
She already holds three individual indoor records, along with one relay indoor record for her career at Morningside. The next indoor meet will be the Great Plains Athletic Conference Indoor Championships, which will take place Saturday, February 22, in Crete, Nebraska.
