By Darius Hicks–Morningside football player Jordan Sitzman has been named to the 2013 Allstate AFCA Good Works Team. He will be going to New Orleans to assist with a community service project in conjunction with the 2014 Sugar Bowl.
Sitzman’s nomination stemmed from his mission projects overseas and his volunteer work in the local community. He has traveled to Honduras twice to help with the construction of water systems in needy villages.
“It’s an honor to be nominated for this award. Whether I win or lose doesn’t matter. I just appreciate them noticing my efforts,” the Morningside senior said.
In 2012 he participated in a 10-day mission trip to Haiti where he helped repair window screens for an orphanage. Jordan’s work is not limited to mission trips. He also partners with local organizations to lend a hand. Those organizations include: The American Heart Association, Alzheimer’s Association, Feed Just One, Kids Against Hunger, Sioux land Food Bank and Countryside retirement home.
Jordan has the opportunity to become a Team Captain for one of the All State/AFCA Good Works Teams. Only 22 players in all of college football on any level are voted as captains to this prestigious team. If selected as captain, Sitzman could be the feature story during the Sugar Bowl’s halftime broadcast.
You can find for Jordan here or at the Morningside College Athletic homepage link. Voting is limited to one vote per day and all voting is concluded November 11.
