By Emily L. Domayer–Morningside students will have a chance to enter their artwork in the upcoming student art show, to be held from February 14 to March 15. All art must be delivered to a member of the art faculty by February 8. There is no entry fee. Awards will be announced at a reception on February 20, from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. Cash prizes will be awarded: $100 for first place, $60 for second place and $40 for third place.
Drawings, paintings, graphic design, photographs, prints, ceramics, sculpture and mixed media artwork are all acceptable. Any student currently taking classes at Morningside can enter up to three pieces of original art. The work must have been made within the last eight months and while the artist has studied at Morningside. The art show will not accept high school work or work made while at another school.
All work must be matted, mounted or framed, and ready to exhibit. Identification tags are needed, which can be found in the art and music office, MacCollin room 200 or by contacting Professor Terri McGaffin at mcgaffin@morningside.edu.
Artists who need to mat their entries may want to attend a mat cutting clinic on February 1, from 1:30 to 5:00 p.m. in MacCollin room 103. Professor McGaffin will have black matboard available for $5.50 for a 32 by 40 inch sheet.
