By Paige Potter — A person doesn’t have the last name Muessigmann, pronounced Musicmann, and not make a name for himself in the music industry.
Casey Muessigmann is from Spencer, Iowa, and was a former student a Morningside. He was also a wrestler until this spring when an injury forced his season to end early. Instead of sitting around during spring break doing nothing, Casey decided to go to Chicago, Illinois, for an audition for The Voice, season three.
After getting a call back and going through the rest of the audition process, Casey found himself going into the “Blind Audition” trying to get a spot on one of the four coaches’ teams.
On Tuesday, September 11th, singing “Sweet Home Alabama,” Casey got Blake Shelton and Cee Lo Green to turn around in their chairs, indicating that they wanted Casey on their team. Of course being the country guy Casey is, it was a no brainer when he chose coach Blake Shelton.
Last Monday night, October 8th, Muessigmann faced teammate Terry McDermott. Unfortunately for Casey, his journey on The Voice ended early.
A freshman that has never met Muessigmann but has been watching this season of The Voice because of the former Morningsider didn’t agree with the coach’s decision. Taylor Woods said, “I thought Casey’s performance was awesome. I didn’t agree with the coach’s decision at all. If I were the coach I would have picked Terry to leave.”
If you missed Casey’s last performance, lucky for you MAC is bringing him and partner Wyatt Turner to perform for the student body. If you like country music or just want to support a former Morningsider, make sure to get your ticket and come to Eppley Auditorium Tuesday night at 8:00 P.M. for the performance.
