By Andrew Schnebel ~ The SYA complex will be swarmed with softball players this weekend as the Morningside Mustang softball team hosts the Morningside Invitational. The tournament will be Friday, through Sunday with eleven teams participating in the round robin tournament.
The host team Mustangs got off to a slow start, beginning the season with a 6-10 record. Dropping two early conference games to Dordt put the Mustangs in an early hole in conference play. They are hoping to get things back on track this weekend.
Sophomore starting pitcher Emma Remy said, “So far we have faced tough competition but overall that should help us prepare for our conference games. We need to make some minor adjustments that should benefit us as we begin conference play.”
The Mustangs were pre-season picked to win the conference. They will look to get conference play back on track next Wednesday when they travel to Orange City to take on Northwestern in a double header.
