(Sioux City, IA) – Siouxland drivers will have to wait a year longer than expected for construction on I-29 to be completed, according to KMEG 14.
When constructed started in 2008, it was expected to take ten years to finish the ten mile stretch of interstate. However, the projected completion date is now December of 2019.
“In order for that to happen, all our projects that we have going now and into the future have to get completed on time so we can do that next year’s work,” says
Iowa DOT District Transportation Planner Dakin Schultz.
Because construction may carry on during the winter months, some parts of I-29 may become one-way for traffic.
