The website Glenn Feron, photo retouching was interesting. It pointed out what people do to enhance their products in one way or another. Basically, they make the models look beautiful through touchup. One would think they would never do it. Well, they do it. Another was a video called The Evolution of Beauty. It showed how an attractive woman was made even more attractive through makeup. The difference was unreal. She was already cute. But then she turned sexy. Almost too sexy. There was also an article about the psychology behind beauty. The author said that because men see hot women all the time, they think hot women are plentiful. Thus, men are unsatisfied and women unfairly mistreated. There was another article about how people measure up their prettiness. Well, we all do it all of the time. The author said that what matters is not how often we do it, but how NOT so often we do it.
Whoo. I work at Fareway Meat Department in Sergeant Bluff. Those were some beautiful women that walked right by the counter. But then I think about plastic surgery. The lengths that each woman has gone to to make themselves extremely pretty. Well, these two women certainly did that, no doubt about that. Then they stopped at the counter to ask for some meat. This is what they said. “Can you, like, give me a pound of 93 hamburger, you filthy cretin.” …….. What did she just say? Filthy cretin? Oh, you little… Which brings me to my point.
Being beautiful doesn’t necessarily mean everything. So I agree with that one doctor; I hate beauty. Senseless, retarded beauty to be precise. However, I won’t complain if a woman was both beautiful AND smart. Lethal combination. All men, beware. She will capture your hearts. But, it annoys me how people think they aren’t pretty. In truth, they are quite beautiful or handsome. Nobody is ugly. What matters is what kind of person they are.
You mentioned that it annoys you when people think they are not beautiful. Are those people being modest or do they truly believe they aren’t beautiful? If they are just being modest, why deny beauty? If they aren’t just being modest, why do you think their opinion of their appearance is so different from yours? And, most importantly, are you saying that someone actually called you a “filthy cretin” at your job or are you taking creative liberty with your entry? If that really happened, that is appalling!
Er… I wasn’t really looking at it that well. I was simply saying that each person is beautiful in their own way. If they say they aren’t beautiful, it means they are comparing themselves to the worldwide standard. It means they are giving in to peer pressure. At least, that’s what I think. Perhaps if my brain wasn’t hurting so much right now, I’d probably have a better response.
I agree that being beautiful doesn’t mean everything, but it means more than it should to most people. As I see it, there are two different types of beauty. The first type is beauty in the media. Models and celebrities are beautiful, there’s no doubt about that. There’s a reason they’re famous, they fit society’s standard of beauty. The second type of beauty is what we see in the people around us. This is where beauty varies, and depends on the person viewing and the person being viewed; which is what I see as the beauty you discussed at the end of your last paragraph.
