This story was rather interesting. I never knew such a thing as calli existed. In fact, I thought it was impossible. And also illegal. Looks like I was proved wrong. Anyway, there were several points of view in this documentation. One was how this person had calli all his or her life. Then that person gets the calli turned off at 18 years old. Said person described what it was like seeing beauty for the first time, like a glow or something “sparkly” about a beautiful person or object. I have several problems with that little story.
First, how did calli come about anyway? I tried googling it, but instead the closest match was Callie Thorne from Necessary Roughness on USA channel came up. Great show, by the way. Second, what is the problem with beauty? Sure, it creates “inequalities”, but we all make up for it. Know the expression “dumb blonde”? There you go. Another problem is the fact that some parents did calli or however you say it to their children in the hopes to make them better. If ever there was controlling your child… Finally, calli, to be blunt, screws with our biology. It is natural to think of a person as beautiful or hot or cute. Wouldn’t a husband consider his wife beautiful?
Beauty is a way of life. Sure, some are more beautiful. Some are not. What matters is how you go through life. So “turning” off your “beauty sense” isn’t going to do anyone justice. All it does is impede one’s progress through life.
