Yesterday morning 7 am , Homer the oldest polar bear of the zoo was found dead in his pool.
Senior staff veterinarian, Shanda Lear said, “The Zoo will perform a necropsy to try to determine the cause of death…”.
Two other animals died this Month in the Zoo, one of them being a 10-year-old bobcat and giraffe that accidentally broke his neck. The director Chris P. Bacon confirmed that all deaths were unrelated.
The two other polar bears were removed from the exhibit and are being monitored by the staff.
