Steven Postolka who was a Morningside graduate in 2011, went on to Law school where he graduated from there in 2014. After graduating Law school, he was able to start his own practice in Spencer, Iowa. Then moving to Sioux City where he became a private practice lawyer where he felt it was the same as working in a smaller town.
Morningside was able to set him up for the career he is in right now. The main thing he took from Morningside was being a better writer. Having the ability to express his words clear without people not understanding what point he is trying to prove. Postolka believed that the close interaction with professors was what put Morningside over the edge.
He feels that he will stay in Sioux City because he said, “Right now I want to stay in Sioux City because they treat me so good.” He likes the position he is in and the financial stability he is in and will continue to stay here due to that.
The quote that stuck with me the most was, “this is not a get-rich-quick business.” The part that all law students have learned is the way hard work beats those who have talent but don’t work hard.
Lastly Postolka said, “They come to you, because it’s the worst day of their life.” Which he proceeds how it really affects the way you interact and puts a toll on the way you feel. You take those emotions with you when things don’t go your way. They don’t just magically disappear, and it can affect you at time.
