Wildfires: Out-of Control

The wildfires in California, Oregon, and Washington have caused seven deaths already. All of Thursday the wildlife fires have been moving up the coast golfing up whole neighborhoods. Due to this moving so fast it is causing mass evacuation. This is leading the hire ups to not know if they should send the rescue teams in on how bad the conditions are. As of now the fire rescuers have found up to hundreds of houses consumed by flames. I feel this should be more important in the news, but it hasn’t been on the news sites I follow throughout my daily basis. Ms. Brown Governor of Oregon said, “We expect to see a great deal of loss, both in structures and in human lives. This could be the greatest loss of human lives and property due to wildfire in our state’s history.” This is hard to see cause of the pandemic going on and how people are needing to leave their homes and come back to nothing left. I am so amazed by the firefighters who are risking their lives on how they are able to begin the rescue and risk their lives for the good of the people.

  1. The fires get pretty extensive cover on the nightly news. Mostly because of the impact on the country, but also because the video is pretty amazing. Some social media can’t get that across. The news value here is impact, but the size and speed of the fires borders on bizarre.
