Stuart Scott Speech

Last night speech, Stuart Scott touched the lives of other people that are dealing with the same thing he is dealing with and that is cancer.

Cancer is a very tuff thing to beat and fight off because of the daily hospital visits, and the long stays at the hospital. It gets very old and makes you want to quit. Stuart Scott knew that if he gave up he was giving up on everyone that he was close to and loved. He showed strength standing upon that stage when he knew life was fighting him back.

A really good quote stood out to me during the speech when Scott said “Every day I am reminded that our life’s journey is really about the people who touch us”. Everyday you should remind yourself that you are not only living for you but you also living for the ones that you love and the ones that loves you back. Another quote that stood out to me was “Fight like hell. And when you get too tired to fight then lay down and rest and let somebody else fight for you”.

Scott fought and fought when he knew it was almost that time for him, he didn’t believe it because he always had a fighting mentality and to never give up.

Finally, he gave a big shoutout to his family such as girlfriend, daughters, mother, and sisters for always being there in such needed moments. When he need someone to cry with he know he can always depends on his siblings. The Jimmy V Perseverance Awards was well deserved by giving it to Stuart Scott. He is a great person and a great family man.

In St.Louis A school teacher was killed Monday in a school shooting and was pronounced dead and was getting a proper bury next week according to the funeral home.

Jean Kuczka was 61 years old working at an Visual and performing Art high school. Orlando Harris 19 year old was the one that broke into the school opening fire on everyone he seen but was sadly to only hit 2 victims, Jean Kuczka and Alexandria Bell 15 years old. he opened fire with a AR-15 style weapon when police fatally shot his Harris.

Ms Kuczka was a very known teacher around the building teaching more than 1 subject. The following subject was health, personal finances, and physical education in St.louis and STL county. One of the victims son is a police office and survived and also her husband, 2 sons, grandchild’s all survived.

This was a great news story not because it was killing and that 2 people lost their life from school shooting. However, It is a good news story because it was short and it was getting straight to the information that was needed. They should’ve got any feedback from other staffs on the scene and definitely could’ve add some quotations in there. But overall it was a great story and well written.

Reflection October 27

When I began to think about what I wanted to write for story 2 was simple. I wanted it to be football related I love the game and I love asking fans, coaches, and players about the season. When I pick my topics I really want them to relate to me in a way or where I came from. Talking about football is everything definitely when you know the game as much as I do. However, what worries me is talking to people that really don’t know much about football and trying to explain it to them.

Of course, everyone not going to know every little thing about it, but watching it for so long you should know the differences in the position groups and offense and defense of side of the ball. I feel like the part that concerned me the most was asking people and getting they input on do they believe we can make it back to the national championship and win. Another quote that concerned me also was that “We are a different team from last years team”. The reason why that concerned me was because I didn’t know if it was a good thing or a bad thing.

I didn’t really revise or change anything to my story because I felt it wasn’t really much to change, because everything was so straight forward. Everything that I put down and wrote I felt like was good and beneficial in my liking with a very nice flow and point to point with everything. I mainly wanted to pay attention to the quotes I was using and making sure that everything made sense.

I think the part that I put the most time into is asking my 2 interviewers the questions and getting they responses. I wanted to make sure that the questions that I was asking was easy for them to answer not no hard out the way questions. Another thing that I payed attention too was my quotations. That was the biggest thing with me and the way I wanted to put my story. There was some great quotes being said and thats why put it in my story.

A news strategy that I have used and learned was to pay close attention and have good listening skills when interviewing someone. You don’t want to cut your interviewer off in no way, let them talk and let them get everything out that they feel or whatever is on they mind listen to every bit. The 2 people that I have interviewed gave me some real good feedback on the questions that I was asking which then made me work on my quotations and how to put in all together as one big article. Everything that I had got back from my 2 people that I interviewed I didn’t take them as a joke. I really wouldn’t judge them If they didn’t understand the question.

When Im interviewing I want to make sure that everyone is comfortable and let them know the questions that Im going ask. At the end of the day I know that these people would’ve never did it if it wasn’t for the kindness of them. I give fully respect to them and will never judge a person thats trying to help me. Because they are doing this for you.

Story 2

Morningside football is halfway through their season with an undefeated record. Students, faculty, and community members have been supportive of the Mustangs as they have in previous seasons.

The team success comes from their head coach Steve Ryan and the way he prepared the team and keep his players close and aligned. The football team hasn’t lost a regular season game in 12 years. The dedication, family environment, and brotherly love that the mustangs football shows each other on and off the field is what makes them so great.

The mustangs are known for their violence, relentlessness, and execution on the football field. However, talking to some students around campus the mustangs started off their first couple games slower than usually.

Taryn Davidson is a junior at Morningside. Freshman year, Taryn took videos for the football team and she loved it. Taryn said, “Taking the videos for the football team gave me the confidences knowing that I want to work for a Big 10 team after college.” She loves watching the football team play she noticed the football team started a couple games of slow but eventually they pick it up after halftime and gives us the show that we are use to seeing.

There is a big differences from the Football team this year and the team from last year Taryn said. However, she also said “The team last year wouldn’t start off slow strictly because it was a lot of 5th and 6th year seniors on the team that was already use to the mustangs systems and that’s what made them so good.

Taryn loves watching the games because she enjoy watching her favorite players on the team play. Dijion Walls, Jalen Portis, and Caleb Schweigart?

When asked what players she felt like make the most impact on the field, Taryn answered with, “I think Austin Johnson, Joe Dolincheck, Dijion Walls, and Jalen Portis. They definitely make the most key plays.”

Morningside football supporters such as Taryn are part of what makes the game day atmosphere as impressive as it is. Along with Taryn, many community members enjoy everything the Mustangs bring to the table.

Jamal Jones, senior at Morningside University have been on the team since his freshmen year. He also been apart of the national championship team the last 3 of 4 years that they have attended and won.

Jamal said “The players is what makes this team special, from grinding all summer and working to get to the position that they get themselves into.” He also said “We have a great coaching staff a coaching staff that knowns how to win and get their players ready and prepared for anything that comes our way.”

Jamal tore his acl in fall camp and been sitting out and recovering from it, Jamal loves this team and he will do anything to get back on that field with the team. He knows that him playing will help the team reach that national championship game again.

Jamal finished off saying that he love his teammates and his coaching and him being able to play again in the playoffs is a big risk but if the teams needs me I will be there for them.

A Banana Twinkie

The taste of a banana Twinkie taste way better than a regular. It a yellow rectangular shape snack with white in the inside of it.

Banana Twinkie taste just like a banana and it was very shocking, just cause the simple fact that they taste better than a regular Twinkie and I never experienced eating a banana Twinkie before and I am amazed with the outcome of it.

It taste excellent and I can’t wait to eat that again.

A toddler fatally shot himself Monday afternoon in St.Louis Missouri, after sitting in the opening lot at Auto-zone.

As of Sunday 17 children have been killed or was seriously injured this year by gunfire and its getting worst and worst in STL Missouri. However, the toddler Khori Patterson was 21 months years of age when he shot himself in the head in the parking lot of auto-zone. He was droving to the hospital when he was pronounced dead at the hospital. The police say “It was a bad tragic and they wish nothing but the best of the parents of Khori Patterson.

Child abuse was notified and definitely staying close into this investigations as they figure out what is going on. The investigation is still on going but from the parents of the toddler, “We went into Auto-zone into our baby having a gunshot in his head”. This was a sad tragic for the Patterson family and they want nothing but peace and love.

I really like the article they gave out some good information as far as the toddler but, they should’ve had more about the toddler parents and the reaction of the parents when finding their baby in the car with a gun shot wound. And why would they leave they 21 month year old child in the car by themselves with a weapon in the car with the child.
