Channing Pick is 19 years old from Le Mars Iowa who is a girl of many talents. Pick was in show choir in high school and continued with singing into college and is in Jazz Choir which is the top Choir at Morningside. Channing also in musical inclined. In high school she was in band and plays, also was apart of speech.

At Morningside she will be very busy having a double major in corporate communications and business administration. Channing does plan on getting her masters. She is also all over campus helping with the OSA orientation and helped with the freshmen orientation.

After college she wants to live the dream life of being famous and making a lot of money, while living in the city that never sleeps, New York City. You can find Pick all over campus working on her double major, but that doesn’t stop her from being apart of different organizations.

Is Jeff Benzos new ideas gonna save the Washington Post? Will all the money he is putting into it going to save it? In my opinion probably not. Why? Because the newspaper in general is just dying and being read less and less. People have an easier access to the web and T.V that they aren’t buying the newspaper. They also don’t have the time to read the paper. Now a days everyone is always on the go, so there’s just no time for the newspaper. Instead they can just go surf the web and find and read what they want, which is faster then sifting through the paper page by page looking for something that may or may not spark an interest from them. And if they don’t find anything then they just wasted however much time looking for nothing!

Everything that happened with the Reddit ordeal just shows how anyone can say anything about anything and put it out in the media, you don’t have to be a news writer or even out of college! If you have the internet and find your way inside you can get to the bottom of the truth which is exactly what this 18 year old did with the Colorado Batman movie shooting. You don’t have to be a pro investigator! But people need to realize and understand right away what information they are reading is right or wrong, or the truth of a lie! Instead people believe everything they read online! Which is wrong!! Prime example in the article. They had suspects from the movie theater who were the wrong people to look at and for a while the wrong person was being accused but people still believed what they were reading, when really they should have believed the more accountable sources.

Reading the article “Is journalism as we know it becoming obsolete” I found everything ridiculous! Journalism isn’t just newspaper writing. Yes, people these days don’t read the newspaper like they use to but that doesn’t mean journalism is fading away. There are all different forms of journalism, there is journalism in everything posted on any form of media outlet. There is journalism writing in tweeting, posting on facebook, blogging on tumblr, or writing for a website. When you make a tweet and attach a URL to a article that’s a form of journalism. When you post something on facebook about a news story or anything that’s a form of journalism. Writing that takes time, research, and a lot of thought is a form of journalism. It doesn’t all have to be done through the newspaper, because today people don’t have time to read the paper like they use to. Quick news articles that stand out are what people read. But journalism isn’t going anywhere anytime soon! So saying journalism is becoming obsolete is just ridiculous and extreme!
