Article #3 (Final)

Hello my name is Carter Kratz and today I will be reading a few short news articles I wrote. This first one is related to the affects of Covid and the Co2 level decrease.

Story #1 : Science Story

You may want to re-think the benefits of quarantine as study shows COVID-19 is causing the biggest carbon dioxide drop in history.

While COVID-19 has threatened millions of lives across the world, there has been some good that’s come for the pandemic. The world has seen some of the lowest carbon emissions ever in the first half of 2020. These emissions were lower than the other record lows during the 2008 economic crisis, the oil crisis of 1979 and even during World War 2.

Since the start of 2020, a team of international researchers have reported a 8.8% overall total drop in carbon emissions around the world when compared to 2019 numbers.

Researchers are pointing their fingers to COVID-19, as people across the world are using less global energy consumption. I asked classmate Camden Parks if he thought COVID had any relation to Co2 emissions. He said, ” “

This next story I will be talking about the election between Biden and trump

Story #2 : The election

Who Will Win?

Oct. 23, 2020 – The presidential candidate for the democratic party, Joe Biden, looks to be leading trump in polls leading up to the election. Some even say he is far more ahead in the electoral college running and will bury trump in the ground.

No one can predict the future, and nobody knows who the next president of the United States will be, until Nov. 3rd. Election Day seems to be a big one this year as the two candidates represent two very different sides of the spectrum. Biden, being a democrat believing in more liberal and socialist views than his candidate Trump. While Trump being the more conservative right-wing candidate.

These two candidates have already made history as the most storied election in the United States as it seems like a lot is on the line. President Trump is defending the White House and is trying to punch his ticket for four more years. On the other hand, Biden would be going into his 9th year in the White House, but his first as President.

. When asking classmate Betsy Rideout who she thought was going to win the election she said, ” “.

The election will begin on November 3rd.

That will be interesting to see who wins that one. Onto our next story which is about the Wisconsin football team and their troubles with Covid.

Story #3 : Wisconsin Football Shut down due to COVID. Again.

Wisconsin Football and COVID have not been good for each other.

The 10th ranked Badgers have cancelled this Saturday’s game for the second straight week due to COVID-19. The Wisconsin staff reported and increase in cases as 15 players and 12 staff members caught the virus on Tuesday.

The team is now hiding zoom meeting instead of practice for the people isolated in quarantine. A similar report has been reported from other sports programs at Wisconsin. This outbreak is more than likely from the student population on campus. As students have not been very smart about masks and social distancing.

With Wisconsin canceling last weeks game against Nebraska, and this week’s game vs Purdue, what does their season look like? Well at this rate, the badgers could play only 6 more games before the Big Ten Championship series is decided. If the badgers miss one more game, they will not be eligible to play in the championship series. The Badgers are the only ranked team in their side of the conference meaning an easy route to the championship game.

When asking avid football fan Camden parks about the trouble with COVID and college football he said, ” “
