Car accident kills one and injures three early yesterday morning. Central City resident Moyer Quick (65) was pronounced dead after a head-on collision on highway 20.

Others involved in the crash were Quick’s wife, Dorthy, and another passenger Maxine steuerwald, 43, of South Sioux. As for the other vehicle, the driver was 17 year old Randy Radin of Swan Lake who is currently in critical condition with a skull fracture and internal injuries.

Patric Stewart, a South Iowa Highway Patrolman, reported the accident happened after Quick failed an attempted pass of Radin as they were both heading West. The impact sent both vehicles into the ditch after rolling Quick’s car once. Police believe weather had no cause on the accident.

Terrible news about Moyer Quick. Thoughts with his wife and Ms. Steuerwald. Hope young Randy recovers fully. Highway 20 can be treacherous; Granny always warned about risky passing! Perhaps clearer signage or rumble strips could help prevent future accidents. Sad situation all around.
