The use of speed tracking radar guns was banned in Sioux City yesterday. The East Dakota Highway Control deemed that the risk imposed on their patrolmen by the hand held radars need to be researched.
Highway Patrol spokesman Adam Smith stated, “The feeling here is to err on the side of caution until more is known about the issue,” while talking about the issue. The worries arose from multiple municipal officers filling workmen compensation claims siting the effects of these hand held radar guns as the cause for their cancer.
Though this ban will take 70 hand held radar guns out of commission, there will still be transmitters mounted to the side of patrol cars.

Interesting points raised! More research is definitely needed on the safety of handheld radar guns for officers. Perhaps departments could explore alternative speed enforcement methods while this is investigated. It reminds me of navigating islands in Poptropica, always needing to be cautious and adaptable to new challenges! Prioritizing officer safety is paramount.
