Worst debate ever!

Last night was the first presidential debate, and a chance for America to get a first look of what our future might look like. Instead we just got a couple of guys in their 70s arguing like babies. “Will you just shut up, man” says Joe after Trump interrupted him for the 100th time. No one could get a full sentence out without being interrupted especially Joe.

Donald gets a D for a grade for his debate because if his lack of focus on the questions, not able to let Biden finish, and for making rude and mean remarks towards Joe during or after he talked.

Joe gets a D as well because of his inability to focus, inability to stay on topic, lost a lot of possible voters, and not letting president Trump finish at times.

Overall I think it is terrible that this is the best America has to offer and I find it quite scary that I seem more mature than our current president ( maybe because if I debate I listen to what the other party has to say but that’s just me). America seems like it may be in trouble for the next four years but who knows, maybe future debates may change my mind, probably not, but maybe.

Man uses snake as facemark?

A man was spotted on a bus in England Monday morning wearing a 4ft long snake as a face mask! “At first I thought it was a funky mask” but then the reptile moved and quick to find out it was not a mask. “No one batted an eyelid.”

As crazy as it seems for someone to put a snake around their face like that, it is not proper COVID-19 attire and police made him put on a real mask after discovering the snake was his only protection.

People are coming up with odd and crazy forms of masks and shields. This man in Manchester had the right idea, just didn’t fit the guidelines.

In my opinion its a unique idea to have a reptile as your mask but it doesn’t help prevent the spread of the virus. Using a snake as a mask is actually quite dangerous because it is a wild animal. It can easily bite someone else or choke him. Snakes do not belong in public places nor on peoples faces. Please take notes of this action and don’t put a animal on your face saying its a face mask

Boys are down but not out!

The Dallas Cowboys played their first game of the season Monday night against the L.A. Rams. The Cowboys lost 20-17 with a chance to tie going into the last few minutes of the 4th quarter. Dad Prescott is the quarterback and caption of the team. He was asking for 45 million for 5 years but cowboys saw different and put a franchise tag on him.

After going 8-8 last year Dak thought leading a team that was even, was good enough for him to ask for that much. a bust season last year and the start of a bust season this year. The Cowboys better thing of something quick before it is to late and yet again out of the playoffs.

Some changes were made though in the coaching staff of the cowboys. Head coach and former player Jason Garrett was fired and then hired by the Giants as their head offensive coach.

Will the Cowboys turn it around this year and make a playoff run and win yet another super bowl or will they do what they did last year and choke another playoff run.

Is the end of COVID-19 near?

Good news for the first time in a long time in 2020. The Trump administration announced that widespread distribution of a vaccine against the coronavirus would happen before the end of the year, directly contradicting Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Director Robert Redfield. But more specifically “sometime in October,” though “it may be a little later than that.”

Top health officials testified that the vaccine wouldn’t be ready until next spring or summer in 2021. They stress that wearing a mask is the most important thing to protect people from this virus. “I might even go so far as to say that this face mask is more guaranteed to protect me against COVID than when I take a COVID vaccine,”  Redfield told a Senate panel Wednesday.

Redfield also stated that the first of the vaccines aren’t going out to the public right when they are done, but to the first responders and those who are dealing with COVID on the front lines. “we’ll start delivering it immediately upon getting it.” said Trump.

Once the vaccine gets approved by the food and drug administration, free vaccines will be distributed amongst the public. “We will move that as fast as possible, within a day or so, to administration sites after we get the word from the FDA,” said Lt. Gen. Paul Ostrowski.

The end of COVID-19 may be near as we are closing in on the finishing touches of the vaccine. Administration sites may be limited early on to target particular populations and storage requirements. Later, sites could expand to include pediatric and adult health care providers and pharmacies.

COVID is still going on and as of right now there are no vaccines so the best way to keep yourself safe and others is to practice social distancing, and to wear a mask. Wearing a mask may be difficult or hard for some, but if we keep up with these safety procedures, normalization will be with us soon.

A meal at Bucks

After class today I went to go have lunch at one of my favorite places on campus, Bucks. Bucks aka the mustang grill, is a Starbucks like setting where students can go and relax and hang out or even work on homework. When you walk down the stairs and towards bucks, your sense of smell is one of the first things that hits you about this place. It always smells like a freshly made cheeseburger or freshly made pizza (depends on the day).

Depending on the time you go it is usually crowded, I went around lunchtime and the atmosphere was just typical college kids hanging out and talking about what they are going to do for the day, how their Ed 300 is the most boring class to sit through and also what is the best thing to get at bucks.

I sat down with Hope Carrier to figure out what the best thing to get there was. She said chicken sandwich with union rings as the side. I respectfully told her that she was Wrong and the best thing there is either the pizza or the Mustang burger which is just a cheese burger but with bacon on top.

Sky turns orange due to deadly wild fires

If you haven’t heard by now you have probably seen the videos and pictures of the sky turning orange. No this is not a filter nor is it a camera trick. The sky turning orange is due to the large fires that are burning in California, Oregon, and in Washington state.

One of the fires now has reached the status of “biggest fire in California history”. The fire was sparked by lightning in Mendocino National Forest, midway between Sacramento and the Oregon border, and has consumed at least 471,000 acres. That is 12,000 more than the 459,000 acres that burned in the Mendocino Complex wildfire in 2018.

At this point firefighters are stretched between the three states and all working together to put out these fires. Around 3.1 million acres have burned in California alone, 672,000 in Oregon and 500,000 in Washington state. Towns have been wiped out. “It looks like a bomb went off” said Oregons governor.

Victory in Newton

The Morningside golf team has successfully made it too Newton, Kansas for a golf tournament at Sand Creek Station golf course. This will be the first tournament that the Mustangs play in ever since COVID-19 hit back in April.

Morningside played Tuesday and Wednesday with the top 5 being Sam Storey, Corey Matthey, Jonny Douglas, Xan Mullagian, and Jackson Sitzman. Lead by coach Tod Sapp.

Sapp and his team look to pick things up right where they left off last time they were in Kansas they took 2nd in the tournament only losing by 4 strokes. This time he hopes to win. “The boys worked hard this offseason and now we got to translate it on the course.” Sapp said.

Last year the boys mustang golf team finished at rank 13th in the NAIA. Sapp intends to keep this status up with a lot go good new recruits. Most of them being outside of the U.S. Paul Henry is a freshman from Germany, James Thomas is from Australia, and Haricio Garcia is from Mexico.

With all this diversity and different cultures on the team is is truly rare and unique to be playing with people who are from all over the world. “They bring a different energy to the table that you just don’t quite get with American golfers” senior caption Sam Knight said.

Sand Creek Station is a fun yet difficult course. It can be stretched out meaning it can play longer if the tees were put in the way back. Its beautiful during the summer but playing in the winter is always hard especially if they make it long.

Sam Storey is a junior at Morningside and he is #1 on the golf team. He won this tournament and after winning this is what he said “I just had to stay focused and dedicated and keep my confidence, once I did that I ended up with the win.” This is the first win of the season for sam but number 4 in his career at Morningside.

The team won by 5 strokes and started the season off with a statement. “This is the best team Morningside has ever seen, and we are just getting started!”-Sam Storey.

The Morningside Mustangs are ranked 3rd in the NAIA which is the highest the boys have ever been ranked in golf. “It takes dedication and hard work, each day we are out here practicing and each day we are trying to make our selves better” – Tanner H. Senior. This tournament that was won in newton is only the beginning and first step of a very successful year.

Morningside has a very solid team and the sky is the limit for this team. They got all the potential to make it too nationals and maybe even winning. But that is a long way to go and a lot more tournaments to win. Winning in Newton proves that we are not only a good team in our devision but a good team against those around us. Hard work and teamwork is what makes this team so successful and it is what holds us together in the end. The mustang golf team is a family, we win as a team and we lose as a team.

It’s a Bird, It’s a plane, It’s a… Man flying a jetpack?

Weird turn of events after an American Airlines plane was on its way down too LAX the pilots saw a man flying a jetpack at 3,000 feet up in the air.

The pilot reported that the aircraft was approximately 30 yards away from the flying man. “Tower. American 1997. We just passed a guy on a jetpack,” the first plane called in. “Off the left side maybe 300 — 30 yards or so. About our altitude.” One of the pilots said.

Shortly after the first aircraft saw this man another one did as well in the same spot where he was spotted last time.

FBI is looking into this but came up with nothing so far. Local law enforcement is working on this matter too.
