Speech Story

“We are watching you,” Greta Thunberg said after being asked about the message she has for world leaders. At the United Nations, Climate action summit in NYC, the 16-year-old Swedish climate activist passionately warned the world leaders about climate change.

Ms. Thunberg is making the younger generation’s voice heard. She says with a strong ton, “This is all wrong. I shouldn’t be up here. I should be back in school on the other side of the ocean. Yet you all come to us young people for hope. How dare you!” She goes on to say the world leaders have stolen her childhood. She should be in school but she is still one of the lucky ones. There are people dying and suffering.

There is a 50% chance of staying below 1.5 degrees Celcius in the next ten years. “So a 50% risk is simply not acceptable to us — we who have to live with the consequences,” Ms. Thunberg stated. Ms. Thunberg goes on to say the world leaders are failing us and the younger generation will never forgive them if they choose to fail us.

The last three lines of the second graf should be a separate graf; the last two lines sound like they come from you, Anna. Tie them back to the speech and Thunberg. First line of the thiird graf needs attribution.

The lead works. One of those times when a quote could work.
