Powerpuff Yourself Review

By Kayla Perkins–Unless you have been living under a rock you are probably aware of the viral craze that is Powerpuff Yourself. Cartoon Network has gotten a lucky hit with this new craze, which has gone viral in recent weeks, where users can create avatars of themselves and their favorite characters in the likeness of the Powerpuff Girls. You can Powerpuff Yourself here.

The Powerpuff Girls was a TV show that ran from 1998 to 2005, which starred three kindergarten superheroes: Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup. Cartoon Network has recently announced a new reboot, which premiered April 4th. In order to promote this reboot Cartoon Network developed the Powerpuff Yourself website, which allows users to create their likeness in Powerpuff form.

Users have taken it above and beyond that, however, including Powerpuffs of their favorite characters, friends, and people. The website includes a variety of skin tones, facial features, eyes, and clothing to individualize each Powerpuff, allowing each user to express their characters individually. The website also allows users to share their characters on Facebook and Twitter, and to download them onto your computer.

I tried Powerpuff Yourself just to see what the hype was about, and I thought it was a cute experience. The website allows you to customize your character in many ways, so I was easily able to create one in my likeness. I think it is a unique way to advertise the reboot, and a good way to reach the original show’s now-grown audience. I would give this website/game an 8/10, for the creative approach to advertising the show, and the variety of customization it offers.
