Sioux City On A Budget

indexBy Dominique Swanson–At first glance it may seem like there is not a lot to do in Sioux City, especially on a tight budget, but if you dig a little deeper, there are some fun opportunities.

Long Lines Family Rec Center offers a few different services including large courts for different sporting activities but most prominent is their rock climbing walls. Wednesday nights are student night, where they only charge $4 for rock climbing.

If climbing isn’t your thing, then going to the movies may be more up your alley. The Riviera offers movies that have just passed on from regular theaters but have not been released on DVD yet. This theater is a good option because it fulfills the movie going experience minus the overpricing. Movies cost only 3.50 per person at all times.

For food there are a number of options to get decent food for a good rate. Buffalo Wild Wings offers Traditional Tuesday and Boneless Thursday where wings cost only $.65 each. Applebee’s has half off appetizers everyday during their happy hour from 3 to 6pm.

Ice-skating and roller blading are two fun and inexpensive activities as well. The IBP Facebook page has the times for open skate and it costs only $4 and $3 if you have your own skates. If you do not like the ice, roller blading is a less chilly option at $6 on Saturdays.

If you don’t find any of those activities appealing, Sioux City has a lot of interesting history behind it and a few different museums and tourist spots to visit for free. It can be something fun and out of the ordinary to do.

Even though Sioux City is not a huge city, it still has a wide range of activities to do for free or reasonable prices. It has many indoor and outdoor activities that provide anything from historical value to physical fitness opportunities.

Sioux City is not New York City, but there is still fun to be had.
