By Hannah Hecht–The Sioux City Public Library will be holding its Annual Book Lovers’ Book Sale from Friday, April 25, to Saturday, May 3. The sale will take place at the Gordon Plaza at 3241 Gordon Drive. The sale offers a chance for Sioux City residents to buy books from all genres at incredibly low prices.
Junior Anna Christensen has volunteered at the sale through her honor society, Alpha Lambda Delta, for the past two years.
“It’s a great resource to find any information,” Christenson said. “They have books from all different genres, everything from cookbooks to history to mystery. Pretty much anything you’d want, they’ve got it, and it’s for a great price.”
The sale will be open on Saturday, April 26, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Sunday, April 27, from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.; Monday, April 28, through Friday, May 2, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.; and Saturday, May 3, from 10 a.m. until the books sell out. During these times, hardcover books will be $3, paperbacks will be $2, and children’s books will be $1. There will also be a special preview sale on Friday, April 25, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. where all books will be available for a $1 donation at the door.
The book sale raises about $25,000 every year, and all proceeds from the sale will help provide services to children through the library and to promote literacy throughout the Siouxland community.
