Qdoba, Chipotle, Panera hit M’side

200px-Chipotle_Mexican_Grill_logo_svgBy Nancy Seeman– Tired of the cafeteria food? Coming close to the end of the semester, students may  be running out of flex points or Ramen Noodles. Lucky for them, new developments within Lakeport Commons give students the opportunity to try something new.

Within the past week, Chipotle, Panera, and Qdoba have opened within the Lakeport Commons. Chipotle and Qdoba are Mexican restaurants that follow a “make your own” style. They compare to a Mexican food version of Subway. Options include burritos, tacos, salads, and more.

Sophomore Meghann Pucelik experienced Chipotle for the first time Saturday  afternoon.

“It’s a cool environment with so many different options. If there is something you  don’t like about you don’t have to get it, or you can change it next time since you get to choose what ever you want,” Says Meghann.

Panera, however, is not new to Sioux City, but new to this side of town. This provides a comfortable, calm setting to grab lunch or coffee. Many students have already utilized Panera as an alternative to the library as well.

Junior Caitlin Casey said, “Studying and coffee usually go hand in hand so its nice to already be at a place like Panera where you can get coffee and food and study in a relaxing environment.”

Of course, nothing can beat the meal plans at Morningside; however having more options on this side of town is a plus for any hungry college student.
