By Cassie Burnside–The Morningside Track and Field team competed in their last regular season indoor meet last weekend.
Many athletes achieved personal bests. McKenzie Reece was one of them. Not only did Reece win the 1000-meter run with a time of 2:59.83, but this also qualified her for the national track meet. In the track world, breaking the 3:00 barrier is a big deal.
Reece said, “The support and cheering I heard all the way around the track was a huge help.”
After the GPAC meet this weekend in Lincoln, Nebraska, Reece will be joining the team at the indoor nationals meet. Indoor nationals takes place from February 28 through March 2 in Geneva, Ohio.
