Nearly 200 students packed into Yockey on Wednesday night for a presentation called Sex Signals, which was put on by two actors, Jack and Kristen, who came to talk to the Morningside students about practicing safe sex and the do’s and don’ts for men and women. Last year, Morningside brought in a very similar event.
Jack and Kristen’s routine started off funny and laughter filled the room. It turned serious quickly once they began talking about issues such as rape and sexual assault.
Periodically they would do comedy skits about different scenarios couples might face. The main points touched on were: safe sex, how to confront someone you are attracted to, stereotypes of men and women, consent, and rape. Although most students found the whole show very funny, there was still some hidden education to it.
Talking to students who attended the program, they found it educational and funny. The way Jack and Kristen had their entire program setup was perfect for college students. It made everyone laugh, which got his or her attention. With the attention from everyone, they were able to get out the important information about the dangers of sex, drugs, and alcohol.
