Don’t know what to do with that old Walkman CD player? Tired of looking at that tacky, old lamp on your end table? Don’t throw them in the trash! Donate them!
The Information Services department will be holding an all-campus recycling event for any and all electronics you no longer need! R.C.R. Electronic Recycling will be on campus Wednesday, April 20, to pick up any small electronics you no longer want or need.
“We’ll take any kind of small electric appliances; computers, monitors, old extension cords, even something like an old lamp with a cord,” said head of Information Services, Shari Tramp.
There will be a truck to collect donations in the Physical Plant parking lot on Garretson Street across the street from Eppley Auditorium from 12:30 to 1:30pm.
“We’re just trying to provide an outlet for people from campus to be able to get rid of stuff, like if they have old electronics sitting around at home, here’s a place that you can bring it for free and we’ll take it off your hands,” commented Tramp.
R.C.R. takes all kinds of small appliances but they will not take large appliances such as refrigerators, washers, dryers, microwaves, and window air conditioning units. They will strip apart all donations to ensure the electronic materials are recycled properly.
“We’re just trying to make sure that people responsibly recycle that kind of stuff instead of throwing it into the landfill,” Tramp added.
Don’t toss that old, broken cell phone in the trash! Follow the three R’s: Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle! So come on down, donate your unwanted junk, and help clean up your house and the Earth.
